The story

Remington had spent only a few months on a Kansas sheep ranch, but he turned what he saw into the action images America pictured as the West. Here three riders race to save a fallen comrade at full gallop.

About the painter

Painter · 1861–1909

Remington spent a short stretch on a Kansas ranch, then made the action pictures magazines wanted of the West. The late nocturnes are the quieter ones.
