The story
The Pony Express lasted just 18 months (1860-61) before the telegraph killed it, yet it became one of the West's biggest legends. Johnson, a former cowpuncher, painted the rider in his signature dusky light.
About the photographer
1874–1939
Johnson had been a cowpuncher. He painted riders in a low dusk light. The Pony Express here is from 1924, long after the eighteen-month mail service had ended.

Size guide
The size you order is the photograph. A framed print adds a 2.5 inch mat and the moulding, so the outside is larger than the print. Canvas is the face size, with a 1.5 inch edge that does not add to the front.
