How to build a gallery wall

Hang the center of each frame about 57 inches off the floor, which is where a standing person meets the picture. Keep at least eight inches between the bottom of the frame and the top of a sofa, and six inches above a headboard or a console. Pairs want three inches between them up to 24 inches wide, and four inches after that. Mix the sizes, not the stories: a candid beside a resort photograph works when the frames match. Start with the largest piece, center it on the furniture, then add the smaller ones. If a 40×60 crowds the ceiling, it belongs in the lobby, not over the bed.
